God has been so good to me. He has blessed me with an awesome, beautiful, and understanding wife, Wendy, and a son Zachary. Zach is a miracle baby. The doctors told my wife that she could not have children. After 9 long years of trying all that the doctor could offer us, we finally put it all in God's hands. On December 27,1997 God gave us the best Christmas gift of all, the birth of our son Zachary. That in it self is enough to show me that you should never give up hope and should always put your trust in God.
At the age of 5, I started playing drums. At 7, I was playing with my parents, Ronnie and Mary Upchurch, in their Southern Gospel group. My two sisters, Tammy and Donna also sang in church. I started playing the bass guitar about 20 years ago in my church and with my family.
I have always been in church, but have not always been a "true Christian". I let what I thought were friends lead me down the wrong road. After years of drugs, alcohol, and getting into trouble, I saw that I could not just talk the talk; I needed to walk the walk. At that point I put my life in God's hands. (And let me tell you, life is so much better)
I believe that God has put FEED together to feed the word of God, through our music, to a lost and dying world. God, Danny Daughtridge, my big brother Jeff Braxton, and I started this band for one reason only... to win souls for Christ. Now, it is God, Kevin, Jimmy, Jeff, and myself. We don't want you to see us; we want you to see an awesome God in us.
